Why do we always focus on our exterior? We buy cosmetics to improve our facial appearance. We dye our hair to “wash away the grey”. We spend thousands of dollars on outfits that only a few will see. We buy expensive cars that are more about status than functionality.
Some work “out” to seek some level of perfection of the exterior. I am not judging what you do or how you do it or why you do it.
I might suggest we spend time Working on the IN. Sitting quietly with the only sounds being that of life, of what is occurring inside of ourselves. Maybe it’s the beat of your heart, the soft sound of your natural breath, the joy of giggle. Whatever it may be, embrace and absorb how it affects your IN.
As you begin to experience Working In, the loss of desire or pursuit of Working on the Out will not fade, but will become more meaningful and purposeful.
